The small school that makes a big difference!

Welcome to our school.

Sumdog competition time!

Sumdog ran a county-wide competition from 8am 2nd May- 8pm 8th May 2014. Sumdog is an educational website that allows children to practise their maths skills in a fun and interactive way, competiting against peers.

I am extremely excited to announce that Finchingfield came an impressive 3rd overall out of 22 participating schools! In addition, we were the daily winning school on 7th May (1st in Essex for that day!). A massive well done to all of our pupils who took part.

Here are our top 10 students:

I'm sure you'll agree that out of 1,592 participating students, our children did incredibly well! What an achievement!

Finchingfield C of E (VC) Primary School

Mission Statement

Finchingfield C of E Primary School is committed to providing a high quality education for every pupil, within a happy, safe and supportive environment. Striving to be part of a dynamic and caring community by inspiring and challenging all to reach their full potential.

To treat everyone fairly and with consideration and respect.
To encourage an atmosphere of trust, openness and fair play.
To build self esteem, by creating a supportive and caring atmosphere.
To develop a life long love of learning through a creative skills based curriculum.
To celebrate achievement and enable all children to recognise their successes.
To encourage an ethos based on Christian values.
To develop a strong partnership between the school, parents and community members.

Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principle of the Church at parish and diocesan level.

Finchingfield C of E Primary School was founded in 1856 to provide education for the children of Finchingfield. We now have children attending the school from Braintree and the local villages including the Air Base at Wethersfield. Developing a love and enthusiasm for learning is the top priority for our entire school and the extended local community, giving children the opportunity to thrive and grow in a safe and caring environment. Making a BIG DIFFERENCE to the lives of the young people who come here through our shared values of RESPECT, HONESTY, KINDNESS, EQUALITY and ENTHUSIASM is our proud achievement.

We are fortunate to have a small but dedicated team of staff and volunteers who work hard to enrich the lives of our children and ensure that they achieve their full potential in all areas. We have a very well resourced school with a large hall for sporting activities, assemblies and theatre events along with an excellent range of ICT and multi-media equipment to enhance the children’s learning.  Our children also benefit from some fantastic links with our neighbouring schools as part of our Four Schools Partnership. This partnership allows us to offer all of the benefits of a bigger school such as access to sporting fixtures, residential visits, school council partnerships and special themed events along with all of the existing benefits of a small school. Our strong links also allow us to foster excellent continuing professional development opportunities for our staff through shared good practice along with the monitoring and moderation of our assessments to ensure high standards are maintained. Please take the opportunity to browse our website and learn more about the work we do here.
